‘hagumu’ is a craft brand producing accessories and small articles using Japanese traditional motifs.
All items are made from 'Silhouette of sweets molds' which is the theme of the brand.
Those silhouettes are created from copper
or brass using molds which had been used for making Japanese traditional sweets;
shapes such as 'Pine','Plum' and 'Plover'.
Our materials are from recycled copper tiled roof or off-cuts of brass items.
The Copper tiled roof is one of the traditional Japanese roof materials
which is used for a shrine, temple, and old Japanese style houses.
It's covered by a unique turquoise colour called 'patina',
which helps its corrosion, adding its artistic effects at the same time.
(eg. the Great Buddha of Kamakura, a statue of Liberty)
Patina items have all different expressions, since the material has its natural aged look
and I have kept that characteristic and applied to each individual items.
Brass items also have expressive looks with hammered mark finish.
Also the strings from Kimono banding has turned into a bracelet
as a new style of ornament with the 'Silhouette of sweets molds'.
Hagumu Aida -Designer-
Born in 1972, Tokyo.
Currently, Hagumu is engaged in planning, sales and production for other labels,
while organising irregular jewelry work shops and making accessories for his own in Kamakura.
育（hagumu）は日本の伝統的なモチーフを使い、小物やアクセサリーなど、ものづくりをしているブランドです。

作品のテーマ‘菓子型のシルエット’は、和菓子を作るときに使われる抜型を使って、
銅、真鍮などの素材を、日本の伝統的なモチーフ‘松’‘梅’‘千鳥’などの
シルエットに切り抜き、作品が制作されております。
使われなくなった銅葺瓦や、真鍮製品の端材を素材として使用しています。
銅葺瓦は神社やお寺、古民家の屋根などに使われている日本の伝統的な屋根素材の一つで、
緑青といわれる独特な青緑色の錆をまとっており、その皮膜のおかげで
それ以上の腐食を防ぎ、美術的効果も取り入れられています（鎌倉大仏、自由の女神、他）。
緑青のふいた作品は、経年変化した素材の表情をそのまま生かしつつ
作品に仕上げており、一つ一つ違った表情をしております。
また、真鍮素材を使った作品は、槌目をつけた表情豊かな作品となっております。
また、帯締めとして使われていた紐は、菓子型シルエットと共に
新たなかたちの装飾品としてブレスレットに仕上げられました。

彫金学校で彫金を学び、ジュエリーとインテリアのデザイン会社を経て、独立。
現在は鎌倉にてアクセサリー制作や、不定期にて彫金ワークショップを開催しつつ
自身以外の多くのブランドの企画、営業、制作に携わる。
